This scholarship aims to help dismantle barriers that keep students with disabilities from entering computing, encourage them to excel in their studies and become active role models and leaders in creating technology.

Multiple scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of  candidates' academic performance and demonstrated passion for computer science. Applications will be reviewed by a committee of researchers and engineers.

The scholarship recipients will each receive a €7,000 (or equivalent) scholarship for the 2013/2014 academic year. In June 2013, all scholarship recipients will be invited to visit Google's Engineering Centre in Zurich for an all-expenses-paid networking retreat. It will include workshops with a series of speakers, panels, breakout sessions and social activities, and will provide an opportunity to meet and share experiences.

Eligibility: candidates must be:

  • A student enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD programme (or equivalent) in 2013/2014.
  • Enrolled at a University in Europe or in Israel. Citizens, permanent residents, and international students are eligible to apply.
  • Studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics, or a closely related technical field.

How to Enter:  All you need to do is to get together a team of 2-4 students and design a new beer for your university and APPLY through http://targetjobsevents.co.uk/best-beer-competition or by email to info@bestbeercompetition.com  Once you've applied you'll have until the entry deadline of 13 February 2013 to submit a project plan and the eight best project plans from each country (the UK and Belgium) which satisfy the competition criteria will be selected to participate in a regional heat where you will present your ideas. Both heats will take place in March 2013 in the UK and Belgium and at each heat there is €3,000 to be won.

The top two teams from each heat will be invited to the Grand Final in Belgium which will take place on 30 April 2013. At the Grand Final the four teams will present their ideas and a winning team will be announced and win €2,500 for themselves and a further €1,500 for charity!
