How does the Shared Vacancies Service operate?
This online vacancy service is operated and delivered by Graduate Prospects.
To use this service for the first time, employers must register (generating a username and
password) and read our guidelines.
Employers log-in and upload all graduate vacancy details.
You have the opportunity to send your vacancies to your chosen university or to all
participating universities- choose the appropriate box.
Vacancy Definitions
Graduate
Graduate vacancies can:
Be permanent or fixed term opportunities.
Be full-time or part-time hours.
Have an immediate start date or a summer/autumn start.
Be UK based or overseas.
Vacancies should reflect the appropriate level of skills gained during time at University.
Work Experience
Internships:
Are jobs which provides highly structured, graduate-level work offering a useful
insight into the company's business. Many employers use them to screen students for future
graduate intakes.
They are generally offered during vacation summer, Easter and Christmas periods
Are generally offered during vacation periods
Vacation Jobs in the UK and Abroad:
Jobs can be full-time or part-time.
We welcome vacancies from employers all over the UK and beyond. Many students are keen to
explore new locations during the summer.
If your vacancy is from outside the central Scotland area, it is helpful to give information
in your job advert about whether you can assist in finding accommodation.
If your vacancy is outside the UK, it is essential to give a statement of wages for the
student in addition to clarifying the cost of the following details: accommodation, travel
insurance, health insurance, travel to the country, local travel costs, visa costs (if required).
If you provide assistance with any of the above please state this on your advert.
Gap or Year-Out Jobs:
Not all universities support these. Please contact the university to confirm details.
Some students may take a year out of their studies for academic or personal reasons and may
therefore be available to work during the year on either a full-time or part-time basis.
Students on a year out from University would be required to start classes again in the
following September.
Part-time Semester Time, Casual:
We encourage opportunities which develop skills at all levels ranging from bar work to business
development projects.
During semester we advertise vacancies of up to a maximum of 15 hours per week.
During Christmas, Easter and Summer vacations vacancies can be full-time or part-time.
Voluntary:
Voluntary work will only be advertised if it complies with the minimum wage legislation:
