Career Planning Module Online

AG20001

What is it?

The Career Planning Module Online is an exciting and innovative module offered by the Careers Service using MyDundee for the delivery of all teaching materials. Students access materials in their own time and complete a set number of tasks and assignments to ensure participation and understanding of materials. There is one brief face to face meeting in early semester to introduce you to the technology and your tutors. Thereafter everything is available online.
The module covers: self awareness - personality, aptitude and skills, awareness of options, online presentation preparation, CVs & application forms and interview & selection training. This module is perfect for students who wish to partake in structured career planning but have timetable limitations.

A 2011 student sends this message to prospective CPMO students, "CPMO Module is one of the most useful modules that you can do. It is a one time opportunity to realise your full potential and it is also a rare opportunity to work on important career factors such as your CV and covering letter. Very enjoyable course - and for people who are not great with computers it is very straightforward and computer friendly!!"

Who Is It For?

The CPM Online is open to any level 2 student (or level 3 student requiring 20 level 2 credits) from the College of Arts and Social Sciences, The College of Life Sciences and The College of Art, Science and Engineering - where your degree pathway allows. (Your adviser of studies will be able to advise you of your module choices if you are unsure).

What Will I Get Out Of It?

On successful completion, the CPM Online allows students to attain 20 level 2 credits whilst substantially enhancing career prospects. Students will gain a clearer understanding of themselves and their options following graduation whilst taking part in a fun and interactive module.

How Is It Assessed?

The CPM Online has no examination and is continually assessed in both written and practical formats. You will complete the following assignments: Skills Audit, Self Awareness Computer Generated Report, Job Investigation Report, Brief PowerPoint Presentation (submitted online, not delivered in person), CV, Application Form and Mock Telephone Interview. All of the assignments are supported by your teaching team.

When Does it Run?

The CPM Online runs once in both semesters. The module has a maximum intake each semester and every year we unfortunately have to turn students away. Please therefore sign up as soon as you can - we'd love to have you onboard!

Sounds good, how do I sign up?

Your adviser of studies will sign you up in the same manner they do for other modules. Please ensure that they call the Careers Service on (3)84017 to ensure there are spaces left and then they will register you in the normal way.

Can I take more than one of the modules offered by the Careers Service?

Unfortunately this is not possible. Please choose one. If you are unsure you may like to consider that the CPM and the CPM Online give you the opportunity to explore in-depth a range of different career options while the Internship Module allows you to pursue work experience in one particular area.
