The Careers Service aims to enhance the career development of all University
of Dundee students and graduates.

What University Staff Can Expect From the Careers Service
The University of Dundee Careers Service works within the guidelines laid
down by our professional body, AGCAS (Association of Graduate Careers
Advisery Services) to guarantee a service that complies with the University's
Confidentiality Code and is impartial, friendly, student-focused and
delivered by professionally trained staff.
Services Offered to University Staff:
- A named Careers Adviser contact for each school/subject.
- The offer of regular meetings with a named Careers Adviser
contact to negotiate careers input for the
next academic year.
- Assistance in organising careers related activities within
each school/subject.
- Advice on career planning and skills development within the
curriculum.
- Advice on referral procedures to the Careers Service for
students.
- Notification and marketing of upcoming careers events to
students
- Advice and information on graduate destinations and labour
market trends.
- Facilitation of contact with employers and other external
agencies.
- Weekly updates on vacancies, including a link to our vacancy
database for schools/subjects.
- The opportunity to visit the Careers Service, view our resources
and meet with staff.
- Advice and information on issues of diversity and specific
need in relation to the future careers of
students.
- Participation by a Careers Adviser in Departmental Programme
Reviews and Approvals
- Access to Careers Advisers for help with personal career
development. N.B. Priority is given to University
of Dundee students and graduates over staff.
What Staff can do for the Careers Service
- Provide a list of careers contacts within each school/subject and
keep us informed of any changes.
- Keep us informed of any relevant developments within your department.
- Encourage students to use the Careers Service as early as possible.
- Advise us on how to gain access to students within your school/subject.
- Provide us with at least 2 weeks advance notice if you wish to meet
with a Careers Adviser or require their input to
curricular activities.
- Advertise and promote careers service events & products appropriate
to your students.
- Provide us with feedback on our Service
Feedback Procedure
The Careers Service constantly encourages feedback on all our services
and aims to act upon all suggestions received.
We hope you find no cause to complain about our service. In case
you do, you are invited to first approach the member
of staff concerned or our Director, Graham Nicholson (emails to careers@dundee.ac.uk).
If you do not receive acknowledgement of your complaint within five
working days, or are dissatisfied with the response
you receive, you are invited to put your complaint in writing and are directed
to the University's Complaints Procedure - http://www.somis.dundee.ac.uk/academic/Complaints.htm
