CAPS Project
System Testing workstream

The testing workstream aims to:
  • support users involved in User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
    • UAT the vanilla system (Phase 1 only)
    • UAT the fully configured system (every phase by each organisational unit)
  • to provide verification that the Pecos system performs as expected to deliver the eProcurement solution to the University

Key areas of work

Testing will be undertaken to the vanilla system at the start of the project and in each phase of the project for the fully configured system.

Testing the vanilla system

The vanilla UAT activity will comprise of a small group of users who will test the basic functionality of the system. This will ensure that the Pecos software, which has already been tried and tested within other organisations, is able to operate within the University´s IT infrastructure, following the University's business rules for procurement.

Vanilla testing users will be set up on the system and will test a variety of procedures. Having access to around 10 suppliers, offering a limited number of items from a various trading routes, ie punchout, catalogue and non-catalogue, the testers will check that everything works on the system following our business rules and processes.

Testing the fully configured system

The configured UAT will involve a larger number of users and more suppliers and items will be added to the system to provide a more realistic representation of how the system will perform.

UAT for the configured system will be as close to the go-live system as possible. This stage will confirm that the system is ready to be rolled out to the first batch of users and will allow the go / no go decision to be taken.

Benefits

The System Testing workstream will:
  • provide assurance that the system is:
    • fit for purpose
    • lives up to the expectations of the University and its users
  • confirm that the system is ready to be released into service with the minimum of disruption to day-to-day procurement activities
  • identify and feed any issues that require to be addressed during the training stage
  • assist with supporting users, involved in testing, through this change
  • identify any business change communications that have not been addressed
