PECOS Help & Advice
The Help & Advice section aims to provide PECOS users with a range of guidance to support the use of PECOS. This information will develop as we continue to roll PECOS out across the whole University.

Using your PECOS account
Activating your PECOS user account
- If you have been identified as a user of the PECOS eProcurement system and have completed appropriate training, an email has been sent to your University of Dundee email account containing your PECOS username and an activation password.
- The first time you log in to PECOS you will be prompted to change your password.
- Navigate to the PECOS Home Page and click the Password button to change your password. (See Security Tips for additional guidance)
Note: Your PECOS password will expire in 60 days.
Security Tips
- Never tell anyone your password. (Even support staff will never need to know it.)
- Do not tell anyone your username (Unless asked by support staff).
- If you are a slow typist, be aware that someone may watch as you type your password.
- Passwords should:
- never be written down or stored electronically
- be at least six characters long
- use both upper and lower case letters
- use a combination of number, punctuation and letters
- not be a word in any language, slang, dialect or jargon
- not be based on personal information eg names of family members
- not be your previous or current one
- Remember YOU are responsible for all activities carried out under your PECOS username.
- Breaches of the rules can result in formal disciplinary measures being taken.
Using IT Responsibly
All staff are required to abide by formal rules and regulations covering the use of IT services, systems and facilities. These can be found in the Regulations and Code of Conduct for use of Computing Facilities.
