CAIS is developing an active research programme including the Royal Society of Edinburgh funded 'Investigating the Archive' project and a doctoral programme in Memory and Identity.

Staff are members of the AHRC Peer Review College and Panel C.

Staff regularly research and present papers at international conferences and workshops.
