FundingSources of Funding for Distance Learners Distance Learning students do not qualify for AHRC or SAAS funding. If they are in paid employment, students should check with their employers for sponsorship or staff development contributions. It is possible for funding to be obtained via the Educational Grants Advisory Service (EGAS) at www.egas-online.org Searchers fill in a form about themselves and the course they are doing, and then a search is done to find suitable trusts to apply to. Some students opt for Career Development Loans (for further information click on the following link): http://www.lifelonglearning.co.uk/ Students resident in Scotland may be able to apply for ILA funding. ILA Scotland is a Scottish Executive scheme which helps pay for learning. Whilst the scheme doesn’t cover full costs you may be able to secure funding towards some of your studies, depending on your personal circumstances. For more information on the ILA and its schemes please see: http://www.ilascotland.org.uk/ILA+Homepage.htm. ILA funding is only available to students enrolled on courses of 60 credits or more (i.e. Cert or Masters students) and the student must be taking at least 40 credits within an academic year to qualify for an award. All applications must, therefore, reach CAIS in time for the January semester. Completed application forms should be sent to CAIS who will pass them on to Registry. In order to use an award towards the cost of a module fee you must have received the award prior to the start date of your selected module. Not all CAIS modules are eligible for ILA funding. Please contact us at ARMTraining@dundee.ac.uk to discuss ILA funding if you intend to apply. |
