Our College brings together seven Schools offering a diverse range of educational and research programmes delivered by a high profile and professional academic team. Subjects range from the Humanities; including English, History and Philosophy, Social and Environmental Sciences and Psychology to the professions in Accounting & Finance, Law, Education and Social Work. Our Postgraduate School protfolio has a strong interdisciplinary base delivering provision to professionals from over 100 nationalities from across the globe.
We pride ourselves in our effort to continually review and deliver a rich teaching portfolio and research excellence in our aim to transfer knowledge within the economic, social and cultural environment nationally and internationally.
Our student base makes up more than half of the university student population with around five thousand undergraduate and over a thousand postgraduate students. Our students come from all walks of life and from all over the world.

Through our distinctive mix of disciplines and in our approaches to teaching and learning, allied to rigorous research, our goal is to inform, illuminate and enhance lives and society. We offer a strong portfolio of high quality research and taught postgraduate programmes and there is a strong commitment to continuing professional development in the professional disciplines. Particular research strengths lie in History, Law and Geography all rating International excellent in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. We work across disciplines committed to inter-disciplinary research encouraging ideas and innovation from our academic and student population.
