Administrative/Biographical History

Dundee University Archive Services was established in 1976. The Archives holds the records of the University of Dundee and its predecessor institutions - University College, Dundee, and Queen's College, Dundee - dating from 1881 to the present as well as merged institutions including Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. A large manuscript collection includes records of businesses, organisations and individuals associated with Dundee and Tayside. Prominent amongst these are records of the jute industry in Dundee and India, the Brechin Diocese collection, the Tayside Health Board archive and the papers of the Glasite Church. Significant map, plan and photograph collections include the Michael Peto photographic collection. Now an associate department of the University's Department of History, Archive Services has strong connections with many of the teaching and research programmes in the University.
