Administrative/Biographical History

William Christie came from the Stonehaven area and was educated at Mackie Academy, Stonehaven. He attended Aberdeen University and, after graduating in 1925, taught for a time in the West of Scotland. In 1954 he moved to Dundee and was a school inspector there for many years. He retired in 1964 at the age of 61, and in 1968 gained a PhD at St Andrews University, the topic of his thesis being The History of the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Brechin 1688-1875. Dr Christie was a past president of the Abertay Historical Society and a member of the vestry of St. Paul's Cathedral. He died in Dundee in September 1979.
