The firm is recorded as Linen Merchants, Dundee in 1867 though, it is probable that the company was in existence prior to this date. Although never officially registered as a Limited Company the firm became known as Julius Salomon & Company after 1885. Salomon's continued to expand both at home and abroad (particularly in Scandinavia/Baltic trade) as agents for finished goods: linen; tarpaulins; sacks etc. and as suppliers to the textile industry. Julius Salomon & Company ceased trading c.1969.
