Year 2 Students present scheme ooptions to the Caladh Centre committee

In Carol's words: My presentation for the Innovation in Teaching Award described a 'live project' developed for Year 2 Architecture. Our students worked collaboratively with staff and clients at the Caladh Centre, a facility which supports and promotes mental wellbeing in the Perth area, to develop design ideas for improving their premises to better suit their needs. As a teaching 'vehicle' live projects offer an alternative understanding of the design process than the traditional studio design project, the students gained valuable experience in aspects of professional practice including communicating successfully with non-architects and interpreting client needs into design solutions. The Caladh Centre staff and clients were impressed with our students' skills and professionalism, and I am really pleased the project has been highly commended in this year's teaching awards.

Carol joined the staff here in 2006 from practice in London, and is a dedicated and popular lecturer.   Congratulations Carol.
