I have been involved in nutrition-related research for the last 13 years, initially based in the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit in Ninewells.

Recent projects here in Ageing & Health have involved examining whether the ingestion of cranberry juice is associated with a reduction in symptomatic urinary infection in elderly hospital patients, the nutritional status of heart failure patients and a nutrition and physical activity intervention programme in older hip fracture patients.

At present I am investigating whether oral nutritional supplementation improves muscle function in older, undernourished patients.
