Web Chat Information for University of Dundee staff
(and current students who are answering questions)

We are using web chats to communicate to prospective students, enquirers & applicants. The information on this page is intended to provide further information about:

1. training sessions
2. live web chats

Training Sessions

We can running staff training sessions - online, at your desk. Please email asrs-webchat@dundee.ac.uk if you wish to take part.

Roles

There are three roles:

• Moderator - usually someone from Admissions & Student Recruitment, who receives the questions from the users, and diverts them to the most relevant adviser
• Adviser - there are usually several of these, who might be admissions tutors, course leaders or current students. They receive questions via the moderator, and respond directly to the message board. If you wish to take part as an advisor, we will set up an adviser account for you - use that to log on at www.dundee.ac.uk/admissions/admin_chat
• User - the prospective students themselves, who ask questions by typing. They are informed that their question is in a queue. Once it is answered everyone sees the question & its answer on the message board. If you wish to take part as a student, then follow the instructions on the outward facing webpage: www.dundee.ac.uk/admissions/webchats.

If you wish to take part in a training session, please contact asrs-webchat@dundee.ac.uk, stating whether you want to be an adviser or a user.

Taking part as an adviser

If you wish to take part in one of these sessions as an adviser, please contact asrs-webchat@dundee.ac.uk.

Once you have been added as an adviser, logon with your web chat username/password at www.dundee.ac.uk/admissions/admin_chat [NOT YOUR UoD username/password]. You will only be able to access the chat on the day itself.

Taking part as a user

If you wish to take part as a user, please follow the instructions which users are given on the outward facing webpage.
