Enhancing Employability

Graduates from the University of Dundee are highly regarded by employers, not only because of the high standard of degree they have received, but also because of the wide range of personal and transferable skills that the university environment enables them to develop.

Employability is embedded into the curriculum of all degree programmes at the University of Dundee, while a number of initiatives have been created to enhance the career prospects of our graduates.

  • Dundee graduates have the highest average graduate starting salaries in Scotland and 11th highest in the UK (The Sunday Times University Guide 2012).
  • When they leave, more than 75 per cent of Dundee alumni go into graduate level jobs (The Sunday Times University Guide 2012).
  • The University of Dundee offers the UK's first Internship Graduate Certificate, which allows graduates greater access to industry and to enhance their CVs.
  • Our Careers Service has been highly commended in the national RateMyPlacement Awards in London, finishing 2nd in the UK out of over 40 entrants in the Best University Placement/Careers Service category.
  • The Careers Service were also awarded a "Highly Commended" in the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) "Graduate Development - Preparation for Work" award in London recently.
  • Career Planning and Internship modules are available to most undergraduate students.
  • The Enterprise Gym gives students the chance to improve their self-reliance and employability and exercise their business creativity through business enterprise skills development training.
