Sumera, from Glasgow, graduated with a degree in Medicine (MBChB) in 2011.

Why did you choose to study at Dundee University?

I choose Dundee University because the University provides students with the best possible learning facilities in addition to addressing other personal/ academic issues via student support groups. Dundee is a beautiful city with lots of sunshine! People are very helpful and supportive as well.

What are your immediate plans after graduation?

I will be starting work as a foundation doctor in Manchester.

What information do you think applicants need to know before starting this course?

Read about the proposed course and speak to people who have already done or doing the course as they would be able to give you insight and first hand experience in what is it like to be studying for the course.

If possible also visit Dundee and the campus to experience what is it like before you start the course.

What was the most enjoyable thing about your degree and why?

I really liked the balance between lectures and problem based learning. Lectures provided me with a sound basis to build and further integrate my knowledge.

There are many opportunities at the University to get involved and develop your interpersonal and other important skills.

What was your best university experience and why?

Elective was definitely the most enjoyable experience for me. It is an excellent part of the medical curriculum and it makes you grow both as a person and in your medical knowledge whilst having fun at the same time.

Do you have any advice for potential new students?

You can have a great time at Dundee university and at the same times gain both academic and extracurricular achievements which will not only make you a well rounded person but will also make you proud of in the years to come.
