Stuart Birse from Forfar graduated in 2010 with a BSc (Hons) in Applied Computing.

He won the Amor Group Prize for Software Engineering 2010 at the ScotSoft2010 dinner in Edinburgh for his final year project. The Young Software Engineer of the Year Awards are given for the best undergraduate software projects drawn from across all students studying computer science and software engineering in Scotland. The Amor Group Prize recognises best practice in software engineering principles.

Stuart developed a multitouch interface to replace maps and large sheets of tracing paper used during town and regional planning brainstorming sessions. His Multitouch Geographical Information System (GIS) was inspired by the GIS application MapInfo.

Stuart graduated with a First Class Honours BSc (Hons) in Applied Computing and was offered a full-time job at the Advanced Solution Concepts team of NCR Labs in Dundee after a successful internship there.

John Innes, Chief Executive Officer of Amor Group, said "Stuart impressed the judges with his Multitouch GIS system and he is an extremely deserving recipient of the Amor Group Prize for Software Engineering."
