Rebekah Wood is from Leamington Spa and hopes to graduate in 2012 with a MArch (Master of Architecture).
I chose to study at Dundee University because of the variety in the design projects and the quality of the work I had seen from other students.
The best thing about studying at Dundee School of Architecture is the freedom and encouragement the teaching staff give in exploring our own idea's and styles, because it is so important to build your own understanding of what architecture is.
Architecture is the most addictive course, I enjoy it so much that I couldn't imagine ever doing anything else. It's hard work, but the most rewarding thing I have ever done.
My best learning experience to date has been a shelter project in 2nd year, which involves real hands on building. This is something that not many other universities in the UK can offer, and will be of a real asset for future employment.
My best university experience to date has definitely been the life-long friendships I have formed, in and out of the architecture studio. Even after first year the atmosphere around the campus has meant I am continually meeting new people and forming new friendships.
I am in the Christian Union and Dundee Roller Derby team which I found out about at the Sports Fayre in Freshers' Week.
In my second year I went to Mainz, Germany for the second semester. Being an ERASMUS student is the most exciting and worthwhile experience.
I settled into Dundee so quickly because I got on fantastically with my flat-mates in halls of residence. The University had grouped us together perfectly. We clicked immediately.
My advice would be to go travelling and see some of the world before studying. Travelling is something which still gets me excited about life and designing, it's more fullfilling and rewarding than you can possibly imagine.
