Why did you choose to study at Dundee University?

After having visiting serveral other Jewellery courses, I found the staff and students very friendly and approachable. The atmosphere within the university as a whole is very welcoming and the tutors are supportive in new innovative ideas within design.

What are your immediate plans after graduation?

After graduation I will be involved in serveral internships and volunteer work within the industry in order to network and allow me a hands on insight into the industry.

What are your longer term career plans (if any)?

In the near future I hope to open my own gallery and workshop which will work as a hub for designers to create and exhibit their pieces. It would also be an opportunity for members of the public to enjoy design and making workshops.

What information do you think applicants need to know before starting this course?

The Jewellery and Metal design course allows you to challenge your way of thinking, use new innovative materials and question why we do what we do.

What was the most enjoyable thing about your degree and why?

Watching your designs come to life from sketchbook to completed final pieces.

What was your best university experience and why?

Winning a Precious Metal Bursary in 2011 from The Goldsmith's Company for one of my final year pieces.

Do you have any advice for potential new students?

The thought of moving away from your friends and family at home can be daunting but everyone else is in the same position as yourself. The City of Dundee is welcoming, easy to navigate around and affordable to live in.
