Gurbet Ünverdi

Gurbet, from Istanbul, Turkey, is in the second year of an MA in International Relations and Politics.

After much research, I realised that the University of Dundee was the most suitable university for me, as it is the only university that offers a joint degree in International Relations and Politics. And of course, I love the city of Dundee.

My course is globally recognised (which is great for my career prospects), and attracts students from all over the world - I've really enjoyed taking part in group study sessions in the library during the pre-exam periods. This course is also spot on for students who can't decide whether to choose International Relations or Politics as a course.

Despite having some doubts before I got here, upon arriving I experienced none of the problems I was expecting. Dundee is a wonderful place to live, study and travel around, I am more than glad to be here. Settling in was pretty easy thanks to the welcoming and warmhearted Scottish citizens.

My best university experience as a whole was undoubtedly Freshers' Week. It was great to meet and get to know new people from all around the world. Since I started at Dundee, I've also become involved with football and archery, have joined the Model United Nations and now I am planning to join a couple more sports clubs along with the Young Diplomats society.

I advise potential new students not to miss out on a chance to be here!
