Gillian Smyth graduated in 2010 with a degree in Law and Spanish. She explains why she found her language courses so valuable:
"As a student of law and Spanish at Dundee University, I feel languages skills are an essential part of life in a modern Britain. I chose to continue Spanish to degree level, as not only does speaking another language improve one's confidence and competence at public speaking and interacting with others, but I also feel it is an invaluable skill in our "global village".
"Viewed as an asset to any employer, fluency in another language can boost one's career potential, and be an invaluable attribute to any company or firm. Furthermore, as a keen traveller, languages spark and reflect an enthuasism to integrate with and embrace other countries and cultures."
