Ewan Mackessack, from Inverness, graduated in 2011 with a degree in Dentistry (BDS)

Why did you choose to study at Dundee?

Dundee Dental School is consistly ranked amongst the top dental schools in the UK and was highly praised by all the dentists that I met before and during my application.

What is the best thing about your course and why?

The practical patient work from 3rd year onwards. Even while still a student, it's possible to make a real difference to someone's life.

What has been your best learning experience to date and why?

Making a set of full dentures from scratch on the clinic and in the lab for a patient; he uses them everyday and I learnt a good deal in their construction.

What has been your best university experience to date and why?

The dental school social events are second to none. Everyone gets involved and has a great time.

What sports activities or clubs/societies are you involved with?

Dundee University Medical School Rugby team, DUCUA, Politics Society, and the Dundee Dental Students Society.

Have you taken part in any student exchanges/work placements?

Dental Elective to India during the summer between 4th and 5th year.
