Di Yang, studied for a MSc Biomedical Engineering in 2006.
I graduated in 2004 with BSc in Precision Instrumentation from Tianjin University, China and chose to progress to an MSc to gain an edge in the job market. I joined MSc Biomedical Engineering in 2005. It was a joint MSc course between Tianjin University and University of Dundee. I studied Biomechanics, Bioinstrumentation and Signal Image Processing in Tianjin and came to Dundee in January 2006, completed another taught module in Advanced Medical and Surgical Technologies, and a 9 month research project.
I graduated with an MSc degree from Dundee in 2007 and am now a PhD student working on Biomolecules and Nanostructures at Department of Science and Technology in Twente University, The Netherlands.
My MSc research project was related to laser ultrasonic technology in medical diagnosis, working closely with Ninewells hospital. It involved with many aspects of research techniques, such as laser safety issue, finite element analysis ultrasonic imaging and signal processing. My work has contributed to an international conference paper in Biomedical Engineering. Biomedical engineering is a growing field and I feel this type of specialist MSc will really enhance my career prospects. The course itself is very diverse and students benefit, in particular, from the School’s strong network of contacts in the health and medical industry.
I had very enjoyable time in Dundee, lots of challenges, and fun too.
