Denise Melo, from Portugal, graduated with an MSc in Advanced Sustainability of the Built Environment (with merit) in 2011.

Once I finished my undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering I decided I wanted to continue my education by doing a masters degree in a country other than Portugal and related with sustainable development. The MSc in Advanced Sustainability of the Built Environment at the University of Dundee ticked the box and turned out to be a great choice.
An interdisciplinary course, with a holistic and up to date approach to sustainability that has allowed me to not only amplify my knowledge in the field, but also gave me the "tools" to develop my own ideas and the flexibility needed to choose my own path. The quality of the course was also enhanced by all the visiting speakers that provided us with expert knowledge. Moreover, it was a good way to broaden my knowledge in other fields other than civil engineering, especially architecture and town planning.
A small class size and great teachers allowed a relaxed atmosphere, very engaging, which was very helpful to develop my communication skills. Also it was great to have colleagues from different multicultural backgrounds. A great life experience of invaluable value!
