Chelsea Fleming, from Glasgow, is studying for an LLB in Scots Law.
I chose Dundee mainly because I heard it was a very student-oriented city. It's small enough to not be intimidating, yet big enough that I don't feel suffocated.
When I showed up for my course's open day the sun was shining and the campus was full of life; before even finding out about the course, I knew Dundee and I were a perfect fit (not to mention Dundee's excellent academic reputation!).
For me, tutorials are the best form of learning. Usually the work for them is related to the previous week's lecture content so revising it all and doing some problem questions with a small group of colleagues and a lecturer is very helpful.
It's good having the same people in the same lectures and tutorials with you for the first two years - it separates us from many of the University's other courses. Others will mix and match between certain modules, and may not get to form the same friendships as we do by seeing each other for at least a few hours every day.
It takes a lot of dedication. A Lot! Even though lecture slides are put up online, the little hints and add-ons here and there from lecturers are worth getting up at 9AM on a Monday for!
It's called "required reading" for a reason! When it gets to exam time and you realise you don't know as much as you thought, you'll wish you had read as you went along! Cramming in 17 chapters of a Law textbook the night before an exam is not ideal.
Saying your goodbyes to your parents on move-in day knowing that you've officially flown the nest is petrifying... but after 20 minutes of chatting to your new flatmates you forget all about it and can't wait for the fun to begin!
Since everything is central on the campus, it was relatively easy to find my way about even on the first day... but bear in mind, the first day was the start of freshers' week, so the only building I concentrated on finding my way to was the Union! When lectures started I was forever consulting my campus map! Take it everywhere with you - it really is a lifesaver for the first few weeks.
My best university experience to date was learning how to work a washing machine and tumble drier! It may sound silly since I came to university to get a degree, but moving away from home taught me a lot of life lessons.
Learning how to change my duvet covers was also a milestone!
Come to Dundee. No, really... do it! It's honestly the best thing I've ever done and I promise you won't regret it either! League tables don't lie!
