Barry Davidson, from Perthshire, graduated with a History MA in 2010. He now works for Admissions and Student Recruitment.
I choose to study at Dundee partly due to knowing the city well through family connections, and partly because of the first impressions I had of campus on my open day. I instantly knew it was the place for me.
Since graduation I have gone on to work for the university in Admissions and Student Recruitment as a Graduate Liaison Officer, travelling the country spreading the word about the University, the courses we offer, and the many benefits of choosing Dundee.
My degree has helped me in a number of ways. The transferable skills that you obtain along with your degree, and any extra curricular activities you get involved in, really impress potential employers. Additionally, the communication skills which you obtain through your degree can even help you when dealing with people in day to day life.
Studying a subject I was truly interested in with much greater depth and having more informed opinions on people and events of the past. You really do learn to become an independent thinker.
