Annabel Korki

Annabel Korki, from Greece, graduated in 2012 with an MA in Business Economics with Marketing

Why did you choose to study at Dundee University?

I've always had an interest in how firms and businesses work both on a domestic and a global level. My course has given me the opportunity to understand this to a much greater extent.

What information do you think applicants need to know before starting this course?

This course is great as it gives you the opportunity for your first two years of your academic career to experiment with other modules. This offers great flexibility. Also the coursework in fourth year is related to today's firms and corporations. This made it more interesting and a lot easier for me to relate to.

What was the most enjoyable thing about your degree and why?

The most enjoyable aspect of my degree were probably the friends I made in class or through various group assignments.

Did you take part in any student exchanges/work placements?

I did an internship in my final semester with the Events department of External Relations at the University of Dundee. This offered me hands on experience of marketing events which is directly related to my degree.

Do you have any advice for potential new students?

With the correct time management anything and everything is possible. Make the most of being a student and get involved as much as you can!

What are your immediate plans after graduation?

I'm going travelling to Australia with my friend for a year (hopefully longer!)

What was your best university experience and why?

The best part of being at university is having the opportunity to meet and interact with so many young people from all over the world. As a student you work hard but you definitely play hard!

What sports activities or clubs/societies (if any) were you involved with?

I worked with Student Services as a Student Support Assistant in Halls of Residence for 3 years. My role involved offering information and guidance to students with welfare issues who lived in Halls. I really enjoyed it as it gave me the opportunity to meet lots of other students whilst offering help at the same time.

How did you find settling into life in the UK? What was different about life in Dundee if compared to your home country?

Dundee is the perfect city to be a student! It really caters to the needs of students and it's incredibly easy to make new friends. You are always guaranteed to bump into someone you know. This made it a lot easier for me to get used to. However, having lived in Greece I did notice a difference in the weather...
