Anna Maria Chojnacka

Anna Maria Chojnacka, from Poland, graduated with a degree in Contemporary European Studies in 2009.

The programme in European Studies provided me with an excellent opportunity to study contemporary European culture and society and its continuing impact upon today's world. In addition to being able to gain an interdisciplinary insight into the origins, history and politics of Europe, I was encouraged to continue learning one European language, German in my case, which allowed me to broaden my cultural and intellectual horizons.

I am currently applying for a range of postgraduate courses which I intend to start in September or October 2010. Having graduated from the University of Dundee I returned to my home country, Poland and enrolled for a variety of acting courses in Krakow. This week I start an apprenticeship at the Polish Environmental Partnership Foundation.

It was of great significance for me to be able to continue learning German at the University of Dundee. As a result I was not only given an opportunity to attend regular German classes but, more importantly, to improve my language skills during the Erasmus exchange at the University of Freiburg, Germany. I believe the ability to speak German, my third language next to Polish and English, is of great advantage, as I can pursue further studies in any German speaking country.
