Ann Crowe, a nursery nurse from Edinburgh, began her studies in Child Nursing in 2009.
I had lived and worked in Edinburgh for 6 years, and when the opportunity to study nursing came along, I thought it was time to try a new place, and go in a different direction, in order to make a fresh start.
So far, University has been one good experience all along, and I have had a great time in virtually everything.
I really enjoy my course because it allows me do work with children which is something that I love. As part of the nursing course you are out on placement for 3 months, and in uni for three months - placements are required as you need to make up practical time in order to meet NMC guidelines.
Sometimes it can be a challenge to marry up what you have learned in theory whilst out in practice, but it has really helped me to develop the skills that I had already acquired through my work as a nursery nurse, as well as to gain new skills.
My best learning experience so far has been getting the opportunity to work alongside a medical student in order to promote health subjects to groups of children within a primary school, as it gave me the opportunity to work with another professional in an area of mutual interest, as well as meeting children in their own environment as opposed to being in the hospital.
Overall, Dundee is a great place to study, the lecturers are very supportive, and there is always help if you need it. If you come to Dundee, you won't regret it!
