Orientation

The first week of the academic year in September (& January) is called 'Welcome' Week' also known as Freshers', Orientation or Registration Week. There are no classes during this week. Instead, there is a variety of social and other events to help you find out about student life in Dundee and it will help you to overcome any feelings of 'culture shock' that you may experience.

These events include the University Principal's Welcome, Sports and Societies Fairs (where you can find out about clubs you can join), a busy programme of daily events at DUSA (Dundee University Students' Association) and an International Students' Orientation programme.

There is also a Postgraduate Students' Induction Course.

An orientation programme, including some of the above, is also organised for international students arriving and starting their studies in January.

We will mail you information about orientation events with your joining instructions or you can collect it from the International Office on arrival. Information is also published on-line before the start of the academic year, via MyDundee for Applicants (available to all new students), and the Welcome Week website.
