Hand Luggage
Different airlines and different countries have varying regulations about what can be carried on board aircraft.
Consult the airline and departure airport websites, remembering that you may be transferring in another country, or within the UK.
For security, in case your luggage is delayed,
and in order to pass through immigration at UK airports, you should carry all of these in your hand luggage when you travel:
- Travel tickets
- Confirmation of your accommodation address
- Funds to open a bank account
- About £200 cash and up to £500 in travellers' cheques for immediate and first week expenses
Optional:
- Birth certificate (if you have one)
- Marriage certificate (if you have one)
- Sponsor's letter (if you have one)
- Extra passport photographs (for police registration, student discount cards etc)
Entry Clearance Officers will be checking that students have the full financial funds to pay for their programme of Study and also living expenses - any or all of the following may be inspected at immigration - you should have these in your hand luggage, too!
Proof of Tuition Fees paid and Maintenance Funds
- Your CAS statement (this shows the pre-payments you have made towards tuition fees/accommodation)
- CAS statement changes (Receipt or UKBA Screenshot printouts of payments you have made to the UoD after your CAS statement was issued)
- Most recent bank statement (not the bank statement used for Visa approval)
Proof of Identity
- Passport
- Visa
- Biometric Card (if applicable)
Proof for Studies
- University of Dundee Admissions letter
- Original qualifications
- English Language Certificates
Finally ... before you leave
- Notify the Residences Office of your arrival
- Notify the International Office of your arrival
- Ensure you know how you will travel from your arrival airport to Dundee
