Who we are
Admissions & Student Recruitment (ASRS) is a one-stop shop handling applicants via MARKETING, ENQUIRIES & APPLICATION, to MATRICULATION – thereafter students are passed onto Academic Schools, Student Services and Registry.
Our activities include:
- Undergraduate courses
- Taught Postgraduate courses
- Home applicants
- EU applicants
- International applicants
- Students elsewhere who are coming on an exchange or visiting programme
- University of Dundee students or staff who are planning an exchange or visiting programme
- Access & Participation activities, including DUAL Summer School
We do not process admissions for Distance Learning courses or research degrees, but we handle the marketing of them via our website.
What we do
ASRS staff are grouped into operational teams, as follows, though some staff are part of more than one team.
UK/EU Recruitment Team – led by Morag Morgan
The Team co-ordinate:
- On campus visits, including campus-wide Open Days, Post Applicant Visits, Individual Applicant Visits, etc - external facing pages
- Off campus visits, our team of Liaison Officers attend school careers events, gives talks, etc
The Team includes:
- Liaison Officers who are allocated to academic schools, and are your first point of contact with regards to marketing your degrees
- Our Enquiry Centre which handles personal callers, telephone callers, and general email enquiries - external facing pages. The Team is also responsible for most of the Admissions information for staff on MyDundee, including the Corporate Pack.
The Marketing Team are also responsible for most of the Admissions Iinformation for staff on MyDundee, including the Corporate Pack.
International Recruitment Team – led by Jason Norris
The Team co-ordinate:
- Overseas recruitment visits to British Council Offices, Embassies, Agents, Institutional Partners, Schools, Ministries of Education
- Agent management
- In country intelligence for recruitment purposes and internal information distribution
- Naric queries
- International applicant conversion
International Recruitment Officers work in specific country markets and are your first point of contact with regards to marketing your programmes overseas or organising a recruitment visit overseas. They will undertake specific intelligence gathering in country on behalf of Schools and assist with relationship deevelopment and management. They handle all international recruitment enquiries by phone or email.
Marketing Communications and Management Information Team – led by Karen Martin
The Marketing Communications and Management Information Team's activities include:
- producing promotional publications including the University prospectuses, online programme listings and other materials, including providing guidance to academic schools on marketing materials
- managing the content for the prospective students website - external facing pages
- managing the corporate and promotional gifts orders from Schools and Colleges - more information
- providing management information via SITS and Cognos, to all staff, this includes reporting via MyDundee for Staff (ARMI) - information requests
- undertaking market research to advise academic schools about new and existing degree programmes - information requests
Undergraduate Admissions Team – led by Kirsten Swankie
- The Information Assistants process application forms, via whichever route (UCAS, GTTR, UKPASS etc)
- The Liaison Officers make decisions on UCAS forms for most non-interviewing courses
- The Information Assistants are the first point of contact for applicants with queries
- They record our offers to applicants, and their decisions, plus update conditional applications when exam results are known
- The Admissions team also operate MyDundee for Applicants – whereby prospective students are given access to MyDundee (Blackboard) and a Dundee email address when they apply - external facing pages
PGT Admissions and International Team – led by Gillian Sharp
- The Information Assistants process PGT application forms, via UKPASS
- The International Officers are your first point of contact with any queries regarding international qualifications, overseas institutions etc
- The International Officers handle our Overseas Representatives
- The International Office handle CAS's for Visas, as part of the new Points Based Immigration System (Tier 4) - external facing pages
- The International Officers visit targeted counties and institutions overseas, speaking at schools and universities, attending careers fairs and visiting our Overseas Representatives - external facing pages
- International Student Support are based in this team - external facing pages
- European and Transatlantic Student & Staff Exchanges are also run by the International Team - external facing pages:
Operations Team – led by Wendy Webster
- Technical issues associated with student applicants, including SITS, eVision, UCAS Apply and UKPASS
- This includes programming letters to be sent to applicants – which you can run yourself. Such letters are then recorded in SITS, so there is an audit trail – this is the recommended method of communicating with prospective students.
- UCAS & GTTR Clearing is co-ordinated by the Operations Team - external facing pages
Brendan Barker, Internationalisation Strategy Manager
He is responsible for work institution-wide work on the Internationalisation Strategy Plan which encompasses all elements of internationalisation, including teaching, research, exchanges, partnerships, collaborations, recruitment, campus enrichment, curriculum development, staff and much more.
Where we are
ASRS are located at 2 & 4 Airlie Place - the Enquiry Centre and Reception is at 2 Airlie Place - follow the path down to the glass door.
