This module takes the student through the stages of writing and developing a research proposal that relates to their area of practice.
To introduce the student to the research process and a variety of research methods.
This module is appropriate for nurses and health visitors working in hospital or the community, in any country. The module consists of seven short units linked to the stages of the research process. While undertaking the module students are facilitated through the research process to undertake a small research project or complete a research proposal in an area of practice which interests them.

The module assessment is practice focused and aims to facilitate the development of professional practice. Students are encouraged to engage with self-assessment activities throughout the learning experience. Formative assessment enables students to develop practice and academic process skills through tutor feed-back.
A text-based study guide is used to support learning for this module. The study guide helps the student make essential links between theory and practice and prepare for the module assessment. A dynamic tutorial support system operates with a tutor link to the module. Students are encouraged to use the tutorial system according to their need.
This module is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialling Centre (ANCC).
First level registered nurses in the UK or overseas equivalent for BN and BNPC. For MPC - students require to have a health-related first degree.
