To meet the expectations and needs of employers and patient / client groups, nurses need to develop a wide range of management skills. In particular they need to manage themselves in their different professional roles. This module focuses on enabling students to critically analyse management of themselves as professionals. This is then developed to reflect on their role in a team and also their role in the employing organisation.

The module assessment is practice focused and aims to facilitate the development of professional practice. Students are encouraged to engage with self-assessment activities throughout the learning experience. Formative assessment enables students to develop practice and academic process skills through tutor feed-back.
A text-based study guide is used to support learning for this module. The study guide helps the student make essential links between theory and practice and prepare for the module assessment. A dynamic tutorial support system operates with a tutor link to the module. Students are encouraged to use the tutorial system according to their need.
This module is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialling Centre (ANCC).
First level registered nurses in the UK or overseas equivalent for BN and BNPC.
