Although knowledge of pain and evidence on pain management are growing, the experience of pain continues to be a generic issue in health care.
This module aims to enable you to have a direct influence on pain and to improve the quality of pain management in your area of clinical practice. The module addresses how pain in a variety of different situations, for example pain as experienced by children, pain for the cancer patient and acute pain for the patient following surgery, is assessed.
You will explore key principles which are important in pain management, whatever the context.
For further information please see the module information on www.dundee.ac.uk/medden/dlc/
The module assessment is practice focused and aims to facilitate the development of professional practice. Formative assessment enables students to develop practice and academic process skills through tutor feed-back.
A text-based study guide is used to support learning for this module. The study guide helps the student make essential links between theory and practice and prepare for the module assessment. A dynamic tutorial support system operates with a tutor link to the module. Students are encouraged to use the tutorial system according to their need.
