Research Interests

Rosa's main research area is in Information Systems and the adoption of new technologies. In particular, she is researching the policy and practise of the adoption of new educational technologies for Higher Education. She was a member of the team which developed Finesse (Finance Education in a Scalable Software Environment), an online collaborative learning and teaching environment for business finance which includes real-time market data and portfolio management facilities. Finesse has been in use as a teaching tool since 1996, and continuously developed using a number of different computing technologies in collaboration with St Andrews Computer Science School. see FINESSE

Finesse is now used as a demonstration of service-based technology enhanced learning under a European FP6 grant. Rosa is project leader at Dundee for a consortium of 23 members investigating the use of GRID technologies for new learning paradigms. See ELeGI

As part of her professional involvement with gender equality in Science, Engineering and Technology, she is a member of the steering committee of the women @ CL project, coordinating a UK women in computer science research network. EPSRC, £60,000 (2004-2007). See women@cl

January 2004 onwards; Member of the steering group and program committee for the 6th International Women in Computing Conference, WiC 2005: Gender Politics of ICT, University of Greenwich, 14-16th July. See WiC
