Research Interests

My research interests are in the areas of social and environmental accounting, international accounting (especially with a focus upon the Arab world), accounting and culture (with particular reference to Islamic accounting) and the accounting profession in the context of globalisation (with a particular current interest in the Syrian accountancy profession). My research is interdisciplinary and is specifically influenced by critical and postcolonial theorising.

Research Grants

A 'Seedcorn grant' from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) of £750 for carrying out a feasibility study of a project exploring the 'Accountancy Profession in Syria and the Challenges of Globalisation'.
