Availability of accommodation for continuing students is determined by the number of bed spaces remaining after entrant student numbers have been estimated. Continuing Students will normally be invited to apply for University accommodation January/February for the following Academic Session commencing September.
In order that applications may be considered equally, a closing date is advertised, in advance, for the receipt of applications from continuing students. If application numbers exceed supply, priority will be given on the following basis:
Applicants with additional support/welfare needs (as confirmed by Disability Services or other University Support Service).
First semester bookings only (as a requirements of study), for example students involved in exchange programmes during the second semester.
By academic seniority and amount of private accommodation experience while studying at University of Dundee.
References from current University accommodation management will also be taken into consideration.
The Residences team will endeavour to allocate applicants to accommodation with other students at a similar stage in their academic career, including exchange students. Offers of accommodation will be issued from early February. If demand exceeds accommodation supply, applicants who have not been immediately successful will be placed on a "Continuing Student Waiting List" and advised of such. It is possible that further places will become available for continuing students as entrant numbers are clarified between March and late August and if so further offers will be made. Applicants are requested to inform the Residences Office if they wish their application to be removed from the Waiting List.
Applications received after the closing date will be allocated as a suitable vacancy allows or will be placed on the Continuing Student Waiting List, if no vacancy exists at time of application.
Please note, some University accommodation services may vary from year to year - for example, the scope of personal property insurance cover and changes to the IT service within residences. This is not an exhaustive list of changes and continuing students are advised to read their Offer of Accommodation and supplementary information carefully before accepting.
Accommodation application will be invited to be made online and may be accessed through your student eVision account.
