Welcome to the Directorate of Policy, Governance & Legal Affairs

• servicing Court and its Committees;
• servicing Senate and its Committees and taking forward the development of policy and procedures initiated by those bodies;
• servicing Academic Council;
• servicing Graduates' Council;
• maintaining the governance instruments of the institution (Charter, Statutes and Ordinances);
• maintaining the University's policies, procedures and regulations in relation to academic matters;
• providing advice and guidance including legal advice, on learning & teaching and employment issues in the context of University policies, procedures and regulations and any other issues requiring legal advice;
• assuring the quality of teaching and research including effective engagement with the Scottish Quality Enhancement framework;
• liaising with the School Secretaries through the School Secretaries' Forum;
• assisting in the development with the Careers Service of the University's Personal Development Planning (PDP) schemes for students;
• supporting DUSA in the areas of student representation and the election of student officers;
• leading the Early Dispute Resolution (edr) Initiative and service in the University;
