Starting out as a postgraduate student

The Welcome Week Programme (Monday 6 - 12 September 2010) includes events run by the University in partnership with Dundee University Students' Association (DUSA). There will be something to suit all interests and tastes and we hope that the induction week will set you off on your studies as a member of our University community on one of the most vibrant campuses in Scotland.

Over both semesters, there will be opportunities to introduce you to further facets of studying at the University asa postgraduate. Events and activities will reflect the rhythms of the academic year at a pace dictated by your course of study or the research process. The Academic Achievement Teaching Unit will help - within your programme or in other settings - with all aspects of the postgraduate skills that you will need to support your coursework; the Library and Learning Centre will provide training on information literacy; Information & Computing Service will support you in the development of your computing skills. helpful to you. Establishing some of the grammatical rules and conventions will help you to write, spell and punctuate to the standard required at university. The logic of grammar - learning the role of different types of words as well as what individual words mean and how to use them has the potential to be a fascinating journey for you as you develop your skills as an academic author.

As soon as you know that you have a place, conditional or unconditional, at the University through My Dundee Applicants' website. Once you arrive on campus, you will have access to a range of activities including 'Principles of Postgraduateness', a programme to assist you to understand the expectations of postgraduate life at Dundee.
